On Friday, July 26, we toured the Straub Brewery-what a tour it was. You get a chance to see how the beer is made in the third oldest brewery in the nation. Then, two complimentary beers of your choice.
Then we stayed at the Microtel Motel at Clarion-the two night stay was great. A clean facility with the most friendly workers. Saturday morning we ate at Deb's Diner-wow-a great breakfast for a reasonable price. Then it was off to park at Marie & Jerrod Vosburg as they were going to lead the ride. Many people showed up for the ride and we got to meet alot of new friendly atvist. Marie got everyone together prior to the ride to review protocol of the trail and and review some safety suggestions. People could enter a 50/50 prior to leaving.
We traveled dirt roads, paved roads, limestone roads and Piney Rail Riders Trail. Sometimes we traveled slow and reasonable by homes and other areas we traveled a little faster. We stopped at a place called the Troll Tunnels and at one of the local farmers that is planning to build a future campground for people to camp and ride the trail. Then, it was off to Palmers for mid afternoon lunch. Great sandwiches, gas etc and picnic tables for everyone to sit down. A large parking lot for all of us to put the atvs/utvs in a safe place. After lunch we traveled over several bridges that are in the plans for reclamation. Then finishing up the day back at Vosburgs. Des won the 50/50 and donated her half back to the Piney Rail Riders.
The excitement displayed by everyone about their trail was very obvious when talking to them. We want to thank everyone for being so nice and especially Marie and Jerrod for their help to coordinate this ride, places to eat and stay. It is alot of work and you all are doing so well at this stage of the development. Many thanks from all members of the Snow Shoe Rails to Trails.
