Snow Shoe Rails to Trails held DCNR Youth Certification Training at the Philipsburg Elks Lodge on Saturday, September 4, 2021. In preparation for the training. one of the trails corporate sponsors, Gongaware Environmental Services mowed the weed and grass at the training area.

Donna Verost, Mark Watson, George Holt were the trainers.

After a classroom session, the attendees did  various group  exercises on their atvs and then went to the Elks Lodge for lunch supplied by Snow Shoe Rails to Trails. Trilby Mayes, president of SSRT presented the trainees their temporary registration along with an SSRTA T-Shirt.

We want to thank George Holt for helping to train all these years. He is now retiring from doing any other training sessions but still not giving up riding atvs/utvs.

Thank you also to Kevin and the servers at the Philipsburg Elks Lodge. The lunch & service was great!!

Philipsburg Area

You will not be able to use the hill by cold stream at this time.  Unfortunately, only 5 people showed up last evening to help so the project could not be completed. The next work party is Monday,  September 20th at 4pm. If 10 or more people don't show up it will remain this way.  Unless, of course, someone else would like to finish the project before next Monday.

Snow Shoe Borough Roads

After several meetings attended by Snow Shoe Rails to Trails and the Snow Shoe Borough Council, we finally got the go ahead to post legal routes to businesses and the Snow Shoe Park and Swimming Pool. A trial period of 6 months is in place. We need to prove we can provide a positive economical impact with limited problems. We are asking all of our members to respect the rules of the Borough concerning speed-which is 15mph for atvs/utvs, no use of radios( shut radios off when entering the Borough-Signs are posted. If your machine is loud, stay away from this route. This route will have access to Brothers Pizza, State Store, Beer One, the laundromat, Laurel Optics, the Snow Shoe House(Air B&B), the Snow Shoe Campground and the Snow Shoe Pool. Please police within your ranks so we can continue to have this route. Be mindful of children as they frequently ride and play on these streets.
