2020 Census

2020 Census survey responses from the Snow Shoe Mountaintop Region, including Burnside Township are low.  It's really important to get an accurate population count to get our share of federal funding to help with maintaining existing roads, schools and public services. Maybe some of you were not aware of the survey but we are trying to do our part to help get appropriate monies for our area. Please fill out the survey at https://2020census.gov/en.html
Thank you.

18th Annual Chicken BBQ

Snow Shoe Rails to Trails & Best Line Powersports held it's 18th Annual Chicken BBQ on Saturday, July 18, 2020. The partnership has been one great ride for both organizations.  The drive thru for meals really worked well and will be revisited for other events. We were out of food by 12:15pm. We want to thank everyone for using social distancing and wearing mask when necessary. We want to thank all of the people that came to support the event and hope you all had a great meal and enjoyed the beautiful scenery. We also want to thank our many volunteers that helped during the event along with Centre County Probation Office. In preparation for the event, we utilized the Moshannon Community Center to place food into proper containers. We also cleaned trash along rt 144. Food was purchased from our corporate sponsors, Adlers Meat Market of Philipsburg and Mt View Market Place of Kylertown. Thank you Best Line Powersports and your employees for your support!
Thank you to Mark Shawley for delivering the  porta potta to Gillentown Trailhead for the Chicken BBQ. Great people, great business!!
A Big Thank you to Chris Vangor, Family and friends that helped make this event and meal a great success. They get up at 1am and start to bbq around 2am. The chicken was great and thank you all!!

Casanova Road Closed

The Casanova Road will be closed at the Six Mile Run Bridge. So, atvs/utvs can only travel to there and turn around until repairs to the bridge are complete. There is no detour for atv/utvs to get around this area and to the park at this time. So, do NOT use detour for ATV/UTV use to get to the park. This road is expected to be closed until sometime in November. The SSRTA has asked Rush Township Supervisors to request detour for atvs/utvs but have not heard back from them.

Trailhead Work

We want to thank Robert Hutton for leveling out the limestone in the SSRTA/Elks Country Club Trailhead. We appreciate the trimming of weeds etc too. Thank you so much for your efforts and hard work. Always nice to have the donuts leveled out where someone was being disrespectful to the property.

Trail Trimming

Gary Halsnik and Andy Basalla put a day in trimming the SSRT for the July 4th weekend. They cut trees and tree limbs overhanging the trail. They trimmed the grass and weeds at all gates and intersections and swept off concrete pads.  Great job by both of them in this hot weather. Thank you for your efforts and hard work.
