Bloody Skillet Annual Work Details

Volunteers met at Gillentown Trailhead and trailered atvs/utvs out route 144 to the northern most trailhead on the Bloody Skillet on  May 17 & 18. Nate Yinger and wife Diane donated two picnic tables to the Bloody Skillet and they needed to be placed this day too. DCNR Stephen Milman met us and help place the tables. After a short meeting with Stephen, volunteers divided up into several groups to travel the Bloody Skillet to brush, trim and remove trees from trail. Then as larger trees blocking trails were found and reported back to the group, then appropriate personnel would return and remove those trees. We collected 16 bags trash these two days.

On Wednesday, May 19, the volunteers met at Gillentown Trailhead and traveled out Kato Rd on atvs/utvs to the connector trail. We collected 7 bags trash along the way. We trimmed the brush, weeds etc at the Bridge over Two Rock and got a group picture.

We want to thank all the volunteers from ages 10 to 85 that helped get this trail ready for the opening of riding season Friday of Memorial Day Weekend.

One of our past volunteers, Barry Armstrong lost his life to Covid this past year. We sure did miss him being along with the crews. No matter what equipment was needed, Barry had it. You will never be forgotten and always our friend. Until we meet again, God Bless. Please look at the Gillentown Trailhead Memorial for a brick laid in Barry's Honor.
