Snow Shoe Rails to Trails held it's annual Bloody Skillet work details on May 15,16, 17. These work details are coordinated with DCNR to prepare the Bloody Skillet for the Opening of the Summer ATV/UTV riding season. Work consist of cutting trees/brush from trail, identify, install damaged or missing signs, notify DCNR of eroded or dangerous sections of trail, collect trash.
This years group of volunteers was the largest to date. We all met with DCNR Forester, Bob Fitterling at Bloody Skillet northern trailhead to discuss particulars. Then, we divided up into separate groups to followup on various sections.
Jack Miller provided lunch for everyone each day - the hoagies were great!!!
We even saw a black snake on the trail Monday, very stiff and cold as we relocated it into the woods.
One other note: DCNR advised that they would be grading the swichback on the connector trail starting Tuesday, this coming week. So, it should be in good shape for opening day, Friday, May 26.
The Snow Shoe Rails to Trails wants to thank all of it's volunteers for your help to maintain the trail. "Great bunch of people".
