Work Detail

 On Saturday, April 9, Snow Shoe Rails to Trails held it's 2nd work detail of the 2022 season. Numerous volunteers showed up to help out with various jobs. Centre County Probation office also sent some very good people to help us too. 

Mary Halsnik and Carol Fye collected trash along Rusnak Hill and down the old Hall Road to the Old Centre County Landfill. Mark Watson, Dwayne Cossnar and Lee collected trash from Hickory, Cattail, Flat Street, Walnut and Fountain Roads. Cameron Fye, Tom Neff, Don Langham led a crew from Kato Bridge to the start of the Bloody Skillet Connector Trail. Jim Leigey led a crew collecting trash along the Tennessee Turnpike. Bob Harris led a crew along rt 144 from M&D Storage to Moshannon and back down Askey's Cemetery Road. Trilby Mayes  led a crew installing the Truck Stuff & More Banner, swept off entrance to Gillentown Trailhead and both concrete pads entering and leaving the trailhead and also rt 144 gate pad and collected trash from the trail leading to the Moshannon Community Center.  Gary Halsnik, Andy Basalla, led a crews installing new corporate sign boards, Jersey Shore State Bank, Black Bear Camp and Grassflat Moose at Gillentown Trailhead. They also installed memorial brick at the Gillentown Trailhead Memorial. Leo Healy, Mark Watson, Dwayne Cossnar, Lee also cleaned concrete pads from Peale & Gorton Crossings. Patrick Warefield did brushing along the ssrr and Creek Road. Larry Mayes led a crew cleaning concrete pads from Gillentown Trailhead to Gorton Crossing. Thank you to Beth Watson for picking up lunch and delivering to Gillentown Trailhead Pavilion. 
The trail collected 88 bags of trash, 16 tires and a large amount of metal objects. 

So far this year, we have collected a total of 171 bags trash, 20 tires and a large assortment of metal from our state, township and borough roads. We want to thank all the volunteers for helping to keep our community clean.
