SSRTA Holds First Business Meeting For 2022

Snow Shoe Rails to Trails held it first Business Meeting for 2022 last night January 11,  at the Moshannon Community Center. Trilby Mayes presented George Holt an H plaque made by Karen Brooks. This was showing our appreciation to George for being a certified trainer all these years. He is finally retiring and turning it over to the younger crowd. 

It was nice to see Jack Miller at the dinner meeting and he won the door prize provided by Brenda and Ray Masinheimer. 

Forty Seven people attended and all got to voice their opinions or suggestions. It was an open meeting. 

What a great meal as the trail provided Lasagna made by Newman's Sandwich Shop and 75 pieces of Chester Chicken made by the Sunoco Truck Plaza. Everyone was asking where did you get the cake-decorated beautiful and taste even better-Mt View Market Place makes great cakes. 

Everyone brought a covered dish and there was more than enough food for all.

Airport Road Signs Posted

 On January 4, 2022, volunteers from the SSRT installed missing signs on McCord Road and also posted Airport Road. Volunteers were Ron Gillette, Patrick Warefield, Gary Halsnik, Ken Rowles, Andy Basalla & Larry Mayes. While posting signs we got a chance to see the buffalo along McCord Rd-what a sight. 

Thank you John Harpster for bringing this to our attention so we could review with Rush Twp Supervisors. 

Members, please go slow on these legalized roads that they can be there for everyone to enjoy!!

Signs Installed

Andy Basalla, Gary Halsnik and Larry Mayes did some sign repairs and some new installations on Friday, Dec. 31, 2021. They relocated the sign at Tarman Crossing and installed new signs on both sides of Peale Tunnel. The tunnel is single lane, so please wait till oncoming traffic is through before Proceeding. 

Thank you also to Bill Mattlin and his crew for stopping and helping to repair Sharpie Halsnik's flat tire.
