Gorton Crossing Gate Repairs

The SSRT Volunteers were busy yesterday, July 15,2021 grading trail and assisting Brooks Welding with installation of new gate at the South Side of Gorton Crossing. Yellow Jackets were an initial issue but soon we gained access. Some pieces of the old gate were used on the new one to help with cost. Roy Brooks and his crew work so well together like one knows what the other is thinking as they work through the installation. The gate will remain open this weekend but will be closed on Monday, July 19, 2021. Width of the bollards is 70" as promised. It was nice to have Patrick Warefield and Andy Basalla present to paint the gate after installation.

After next weekend and the chicken bbq, we will start to widen the Peale Crossing bollards and install a railing along the northern most bollard. They will be widened to 70" too.

Trail Repairs

The trail wants to thank Jim Verost for utilizing his skid steer to make some necessary repairs to the trail across Elks Club property. The first bunch of number 4 stone sanked into the ground and Jim wanted to add a layer to help smooth the entire trail out in this bad spot. Thank you, Jim.

Work Detail

Snow Shoe Rails to Trails volunteers installed some more signs in Morris Township to legalize a few more roads. The volunteers also trimmed around SSRT/Elks Trailhead sign along rt 504 and at Black Bear Trailhead along entrance and main road. We picked up another volunteer Bob Callahan today that helped to sledge in a break away. We appreciated Bob's help.
