SSRTA Youth Training at Elks Lodge

Snow Shoe Rails to Trails provided DCNR ATV Youth Certification Training on Saturday, September 12, 2020. This is the first time we held training at the Philipsburg Elks Lodge. Training  ages were 8 thru 15.   The area was large enough to set up and  train two groups at once. Certified trainers were Donna Verost, Mark Watson, George Holt and Bob Biggans.

The training area also provided a real live circumstantial exercise on hills with a rough terrain-just perfect. After the training was over, Trilby Mayes, president of SSRT provided SSRTA T-shirts to all the attendees along with their temporary license. Now they can ride the SSRTA and any of the state trails as long as they are with someone 18 years of age or older.

The Snow Snow Shoe Rails to Trails provided a lunch from the Elks Lodge to trainees and their parents after everyone received their temporary license. The Snow Shoe Rails to Trails wants to thank the Philipsburg Elks Lodge for partnering with the trail to provide us a place to train and to get the trainees off to a good start.

More ATV Roads Posted in South Philipsburg

Snow Shoe Rails to Trails installed signs in South Philipsburg again yesterday, Sept. 10,2020, thus making alot of roads legalized for atvs/utvs. We were able to reach a few of the roads that connect to Rt. 350. So many nice people came out to discuss the project and also hoping atvs/utvs and vehicles slow down in the neighborhood. We are hoping people obey the signs so we can continue to ride these roads. Thank you Patrick Warefield, Ken Rowles, Dave Crane and Larry Mayes.

Legal ATV Roads In Philipsburg Posted

Snow Shoe Rails to Trails posted a few roads in Philipsburg legalizing the use of roads for atvs/utvs. Richard street and Richard Street Spur was posted earlier by Andy Basalla and Larry Mayes and today the trail starting posting roads in South Philipsburg.

We want to thank Dave Crane from the Reliance Fire Company for helping to maintain traffic flow while the crew was installing signs. Volunteers were Ken Rowles, Patrick Warefield, Ed Thomas and Larry Mayes.

We hope everyone will pay attention to the signs  and obey speeds when riding your atv or utv in any of the areas where the signs have been installed. We are fortunate enough to have these roads legalized so now it's up to the users to keep them.
Thank you,
Rails to Trails Officers
