Movie scenes shot at the Peale Tunnel.

On Friday October 26, 2018 around noon, Spencer Folmar and movie crew met Snow Shoe Rails to Trails volunteers at Gillentown Trailhead. They traveled to Gorton and left a few of the movie vehicles and then moved on to the Peale Tunnel. The trail and tunnel were going to be scenes shot for the movie "Shooting Heroin". This long day started for Spencer and crew around noon and ended around 3:30am.

This was so interesting to see how movie scenes are shot and how much work goes into each scene. SSRTA volunteers shuttled people and equipment back and forth from Gorton Crossing, Gillentown Trailhead to the shooting location at Peale Tunnel. Dinner was served to eveyone around 6pm.

We all can't wait to see the movie next year this time at the Rowland Theatre in Philipsburg. The SSRTA wants to thank Spencer and his crew for the fine work done on the trail and Peale Tunnel.

Roadway Trash Collection in Rush Township

Snow Shoe Rails to Trails  had a very successful day Saturday, October 20,2018, collecting trash along Casanova Road, Casanova Spur, Chestnut Road and Coaldale Road. We got the dump site cleaned up that was pointed out to us by Rod Fye(Centre County Recycling and Refuse.)

We collected two couches/love seats, 6 tires, 53 bags of trash, several pieces of metal and lot's of glass and a tv. This was enough trash to fill one of the larger dump trucks for Rush Township.

We had a total of 28 volunteers with a total of 224 manhours of work time.

We want to thank Rush Township Supervisors and staff for helping to coordinate this project.
We want to thank Centre County Probation for additional manpower to help with this work. We want to thank Centre County Recycling and Refuse(Rod Fye)for his help identifying a trash dump site needing cleaned up and also for supplying the SSRT with some items for the cleanup. Last, the officers and directors of the SSRTA want to thank it's members for coming out and helping with this project. It was so nice to see so many volunteers. Great job done by everyone!!!

SSRTA 2018 Raffle

Mike Hanna Jr. participated by drawing all the raffle winners. He was very busy pulling out the quilt raffle winner, then to many door prizes provided by Best Line Powersports and the SSRTA. Thank you Tylor Tressler for providing a few extra items for the door prizes. Then, Mike was back between the ATV raffle drawing and the door prizes-helping to move the event along as quickly as possible. Thank you so much for helping with the drawing. It was nice to see Mike Getz at the event and he bought two tickets and said if they were selected, the prize could go to the SSRT and we could hold an auction - that included the razor. His name wasn't selected but we appreciated his positive thought's for the club. The upstairs was full of many items to eat, Pigs in a Blanket made by Ruth Martin, Red Skin butter parsley potatoes, sloppy joes, hot dogs, pulled pork, chili made by the Master, Jim Verost, bake beans, cookies and much much more. A great meal. Thank you Chris Corman for helping to set up the electric ovens and keep a close watch on them. We hear you about the seating and space available and we know that space was limited for the raffle and we will work with Best Line to have more space available and more seating available for next year. Sorry for the inconvience. Thank you all for coming and hope to see the large crowd back in 2019.
